Birthday Girl!

Leah turned THREE on June 12 ~ cannot believe she is three!  And whoever coined the phrase 'terrible twos' was wrong.  So far it has been the 'terrible threes'.  Two was a breeze.  Leah had her moments, but for the most part being two was awesome.  But it seems like the day she turned three, a switch turned on and she has changed!  She now has the confidence to 'talk back' and push buttons, thinking that we will cave in and let her have her way!  She is such a stinker!  From talking with other moms, they agree that the age of three is much more difficult than age two.  And to watch out because this phase can last awhile!  But in all seriousness, Leah is still a joy and pleasant to be around, saying crazy things and being silly all the time, but like all toddlers, well, I guess I now should be calling her a preschooler now, she has her moments.

So as I said, Leah turned three in mid-June and her birthday weekend was a lot of fun.  I took Leah for her first pedicure.  She picked out a fantastic purple-ly glitter color and loved to show off her toes to all.  Family came into town and we went to Oxford to Mac n Joes, which seems to be where we go every year during Leah's birthday weekend, so I guess we have a new tradition!

Her party was small and quiet.  She had only two requests for her party ~ a pink dress and a cake with flowers.  Easy enough!  I was able to find a darling pink dress with flowers, and her cake turned out well, too.  She has been into flowers lately so we got her a bouquet of fresh cut flowers, and I made her '3' cookies (egg-free for Max of course!)

Finally her actual birthday ~ we went to lunch at Red Robin before my parents headed out of town.  And I wanted to try another egg-free recipe, so I made Leah a cake for the actual big day.  Leah LOVES giraffes so it was no surprise when her favorite gift was a giraffe from the zoo (named Zuri after our zoo's new baby giraffe, who has since passed away).

The recipe must have been a winner ~ Max loved it!
