Stocking Complete!

Noah's stocking is finished! I was on a roll last weekend but some other things came up this week which postponed me being able to finish it up. But I wanted it done before the weekend. It only took about an hour tonight. Our stairway is now complete...note that there is no more room for any more stockings!

My mom made our family stockings when my brother and I were young, and I loved them. When Pat and I first had Leah, making her a stocking was one of the first things I thought of.

I have enjoyed making one for each of us, and I chose each one carefully. Pat is our "light guy" and he always hung my lights when I lived alone, so his stocking of a snowman hanging lights was perfect. I love to bake, so the gingerbread house makes sense for me. For Leah, Max and Noah I wanted Santa to be on their stockings. When it came time for Noah's stocking I was able to find several Santa stockings, but none had the white across the top like the others, so I added that myself.

I think these stockings are my favorite decorations in our home!

Calling it a Night

So over the past three hours (since my last post) I have nearly completed Noah's stocking! I just have to add white sequins to the snow/icicles, add some holly leaves/berries with the hang tag and attach the back! But then I remembered that I have to work tomorrow and have some lesson planning to do, so I will have to finish up another night....but my stress level just went way down!

Side note.... I decided to change the design a bit, so it looks a bit different than the original...more on that with the finished project!

Stay Tuned for Snapshot Sunday

I'm pooped after being out of town for a few days and the kick-off to all things Christmas! We have been having a great weekend decorating our home and tree. Today Pat worked outside and I stayed in with Leah, Max and Noah. I am so close to being finished with Noah's stocking...I haven't even had time for a shower! I am so determined to get this done in the next 24 hours! So I'm signing off to continue my work! Pics later this week...but here is one for now...

A Loss

Our family lost an incredible lady this week, Aunt Ro. Alzheimer's is a terrible disease that can haunt the entire family. We will continue to walk and fight in memory of Aunt Ro. We love you Aunt Ro!

We brought the little table Grandpa Naylor painted upstairs when the Lantis family came over for dinner - we might keep it in the kitchen for awhile!

Noah has a new scrunchy face look that is hysterical - but every time I would get a picture I wasn't fast enough or it was really blurry...but here are some 'tries'

And this is what I came home to after a girls' afternoon out...so excited to decorate next weekend!

Playdate with Tyler and Kyle

Last night we had the Lantis family over for dinner.  We haven't seen them since the 4th of July, and we were not able to go to Tyler and Kyle's birthday party - so a get together was needed!  The kids had a great time playing in the basement, ate a great dinner and continued to play in the living room and entry way.  Hopefully we can get together again soon!  (Uncle Bub - this toy is still a favorite!!!!)

Easy Entertainment

Leah and Max were easily entertained for about 15 minutes tonight.  Of course the first time they did this was the best - Max went flying across the room!

Dentist, Conferences and Doctor, Oh My!

We started off our morning yesterday with a trip to the dentist for Leah and Max.  In the past, both have flipped out over the whole process, but today they were awesome!  Both Leah and Max were the perfect patients!  First both brushed their teeth, by themselves, and spit!  Those who know these two know that is a huge accomplishment!  Leah was up first for her cleaning...she sat perfectly while Miss Julie counted, polished and flossed her teeth.  Max was next and was just as good!  Both were reward with new toothbrushes, stickers, pencils, 'prizes' and their favorite - a balloon animal!  Leah chose a purple butterfly and Max a blue lion.  After taking Max back to Suzy's house (our sitter for the boys), Leah and I had a breakfast date.
Sporting her crazy hair...look at those sparkling teeth!
Early afternoon I had an appointment with both of Leah's teachers.  Ms. K works with Leah in the morning and Ms. J works with Leah in the afternoon (with some help from Mr. A).  We really like all of Leah's teachers!  Leah is doing really well in school.  She is testing in the above average and accelerated categories, although both of her teachers say that Leah has a tendency to 'space out.'  I laughed and told them both about soccer (remember Leah sitting in the dirt as the ball goes right by her?).  Both teachers said Leah is doing well with her writing and drawing and mentioned her love of puzzles and games.  Both of her teachers suggested that we start on some sight words and to just keep doing what we are doing!

In the afternoon, Max had his 30-month check-up with Dr. D (not Doogie, but another pediatrician that we love - we are fortunate to have two awesome docs for the kids!).  Max weighed in at 29 pounds and was 34 inches - which was a cause of some concern because in May he was 34.5 inches!  But Dr. D is positive that one or both of the readings were off.  Max is doing quite well too!  She says that active is good and his language is starting to develop more and more - all typical for boys.  She also had some ideas concerning Max's night terrors - all a sign that his brain is active during sleep and busy developing.  She suggested that we still meet with Dr. B at Children's.  Children's actually called today to schedule - finally.  We will head downtown in about 3 weeks.

Snapshot Sunday

Don't have too many pictures from this week - a few of Noah...

Now you can see the tooth!  Blurry...and a second one is popping up!

Always happy

Leah and Max have these bird nests my MIL made them for Easter -Leah pretends they are hats

We met my dad on I-71S on our way home from Hudson - Memaw and Hippa had a bag of holiday goodies for Leah, Max and Noah for the month of December and instead of mailing them, why not meet up with Hippa along the highway for an hour or so while Noah needed a bottle and Max and Leah needed lunch - we missed Memaw who had to work.
