Poopin' Paint

We have really struggled for the past year with the whole 'pooping on the potty' with Leah.  She potty trained peeing without a problem just over a year ago, and she has been dry in the morning for several months now.  But the poopin thing has been a battle.  Last summer I spoke with her pediatrician about it and he assured me that this was a behavioral issue and when she is ready she will do it.  She knew she needed to go, but would refused to use the potty.  So for the past year at bedtime she has been wearing a pull-up, simply so she could poop.

With her 4th birthday around the corner Pat and I decided enough was enough!  With Noah being born we were not going to be wiping THREE butts!  So we told Leah that when she turned 4, the pull-ups were going away - and it worked!  Not exactly as planned, but it worked!

The problem was that we were in Cleveland visiting with family, so we were a bit out of routine and we didn't want to do this 'change' while not at home.  However, on the night of her birthday she did not want a pull-up - just her panties.  I thought we were on to something-  but the next day she said she needed to 'go' and asked for a pull-up, did her business and put the panties back on.  However while at Grandma Naylor's house she was playing with real craft paint, something she did not have.   And this gave me an idea.

Once we got home to Cincinnati, Pat and I told Leah if she pooped on the potty five times she would get her very own craft paint.  So, since this post is called "Poopin' Paint" you can tell she earned her reward!  I took Leah to the craft store and she picked out her paint and brushes, and Pat let her pick out her own painting shirt (apparently he is perfectly fine with her ruining an OU shirt, I would be too :) )  And she has been painting - and pooping - ever since!

Bye Bye Pookie!

Last night I pulled a fast one on Max.  When he wasn't looking I took his pookies (pacifiers) and hid them in my pocket.  After I read him his bedtime story and tucked him in, he still never asked for one.  Kissed him goodnight and left the room and nothing!  He talked and read some books for about 30 minutes and then he was quiet - and slept all night - without his pookie!  What a big boy he is becoming!

Chubba Chubba!

Noah, aka Chubba Chubba, turned two months this past week which meant another trip to the pediatrician. And he has lived up to his nickname! He weighed in at a whopping 14 pounds and 9 ounces (93rd percentile) and is 22 inches long (I think the length is wrong and sometime when i think about it I am going to measure him myself, I'm having trouble snapping his onesies!). When his doctor came in she actually called him "tank" and said he is the size of a four month old! However I was told to not worry about his weight that he is perfectly healthy and developing well! We ended the appointment on an unpleasant note-four pokes! Noah is definitely the most dramatic of my three children when it comes to shots (who would have ever thought someone could be more dramatic than Leah!)

This is the best I could get of Noah at the doctor's office. Noah loves to turn his head just as I am about to take a picture! He's dodging the camera already!

Other news in Noah's development-some fun stuff! Noah is smiling more each day and coos-music to my ears! Leah absolutely adores her baby brother and the feelings are mutual. Max is becoming more aware of Noah's presence and likes to practice identifying body parts using Noah. Sometimes Max is a little too rough-instead of just pointing and saying "eyes" he pokes, and instead of pointing and saying "nose" he honks and twists! Noah is also starting to sleep through the night. We are just hoping to develop a solid routine of sleeping all night before school starts back up in August!
