Back at the end of March, Max had his second-to-last appointment for his helmet. We had excellent news! Max had reached both of his goals! His first goal was to be below a 3 with his cross-diagonals - and he was at a 1! His second goal was to be at 90% or below when comparing the width of his head to the length, and he was at 90%! At this point, Max had been very tolerable of his 'crash helmet.' But in recent days he had begun to show signs of irritation and frustration, and was trying to pull the helmet off. So it was suggested that we could begin to wean the wear time of the helmet. The weaning was important because Max did not know how to protect his head when he fell ~ hence the nickname for his helmet ~ the 'crash helmet.' It took a few falls and a few tears, but Max quickly learned how to play hard without his head gear. We still needed to meet for a final appointment a month later to make sure his numbers remained the same. After the month his diagonal was the same and his length-to-width had improved to 89%. So we are excited to say that after four very fast months the cranial band did exactly what is was supposed to!
