Pat: 32!
That's right! Pat celebrated his 32nd birthday this year. I took Leah shopping and she did a pretty good job of picking out his gifts: a Reds t-shirt, a box of K-cup coffee, and Sponge-Bob golf balls. He says he is going to use them at his upcoming golf outing - we shall see! And I gave Pat a box of balloons filled with money - the kids had a great time breaking the balloons!
The kids always like it when I tie a balloon to their chairs for their birthdays, so we picked one out for daddy. Leah, Max and cousin Addison made Pat a birthday banner and I made Pat his favorite cheesecake and chocolate cupcakes for the kids. And each child got their own candle to blow out too!
We didn't get to see much of Pat on his birthday due to his marching band commitments, but I think he had a great morning! It was a crazy morning so I didn't get very many pictures, and the ones I did get did not turn out so great. Still need to figure out my camera!

Betty's Bunch: Update!
We walked! And we talked and laughed and remembered Grandma Snow and honored her at the 2012 Alzheimer Walk. I have to thank some very special people who donated to such a worthy cause. I know that Alzheimer's has touched us all in different ways. Having witnessed what this disease can do, I hope and pray that my children will never have to watch a loved one fight this awful thing called Alzheimer's Disease.
I would like to thank my mom, Donna Lindsey, for your generous donation. Thank you for teaching me to think of others and to do for others. I started participating in this walk for you :-)
I would like to thank my dad, Tom Lindsey, who made a donation in each of my children's names: Leah, Max and Noah :-)
I would like to thank Mrs. Johnson and Leah Johnson. Both knew my Grandma and knew what a special person she was to me and my mom. Both are such special people in my life, even though we don't see each other often :-)
I would like to thank Christine Birhanzl and Diane Cobey - two women who I have met in recent years. Both of your donations mean something to you personally, but they also meant something to me :-)
I would like to thank my in-laws, Connie and Rick Naylor, and cousin-in-laws Joe and Alison Marino, for their donations, and who are currently living this disease with Pat's Aunt Ro. Aunt Ro is Joe's mom and Connie's aunt. Please know we honored Aunt Ro during our walk, too :-)
We had a beautiful day for the walk - it was a crisp, sunny morning. And our small group of eight walked, and pushed and pulled just over 3 miles. I think we may change our location for next year so that more family can join us!

Take 4 - ok, so I'm not going to get a picture of all four children smiling at me all at the same time. I tried! |

Some still a little grumpy! The purple flowers were made in memory of Grandma Snow. The yellow flower was made in honor of Aunt Ro who is currently living with Alzheimer's. |

Fresh Beat Band
Leah loves the Fresh Beat Band. For awhile it was the only show she would want to watch and our DVR was full of episodes. She has since expanded her list of favorite shows, but "kiki" is still one of her favorites. I saw that they were going to be in Dayton for a concert, so I purchased a pair of tickets to surprise Leah. It was right at the end of her second week of school - so it was kind of like a back-to-school treat.
I never get a babysitter to watch the kids, but I had to for this. Pat had Friday night football and we were heading north for the Labor Day weekend, so it didn't make sense for any of the grandparents to come down. Thank goodness for Julie - she is the sister of one of Pat's friends who also happens to clean Leah and Max's teeth. She was more than happy to help us out!
Leah didn't have a clue as to where we were going. She is usually pretty good at figuring out where we ever go but since she had never been to the Fraze Pavilion, she was stumped. We first at dinner at McDonalds - her choice, which surprised me. She was so excited once we got to the Fraze and she saw what I was up to. Of course she wanted a t-shirt, and she said we had to get one for Max, too. Always so thoughtful. Leah wanted to get one for Noah as well, but I told her that he was too little.
We both had a great time and hope to take her again sometime - I think Max would have liked it too!

Leah's First Day of Preschool - Year #2!
Starting with...
Leah's first day of preschool - year 2! I can't believe Leah has started her second year! Leah was definitely ready to go back - she missed her best bud Austin, and it sounded like he missed her too!
Leah's first day was Mommy's second day. I still haven't figured out my camera, so the pictures are not near what I was hoping for...oh well...
Getting up so early is going to take some getting used to! |
